About School

Coto Japanese Institute is a Japanese language school currently under approval to receive certification as a Ministry of Education–recognized Japanese language education institution in 2026. Founded by Yukiko Watabe—who launched the pioneering short-term Japanese language school “Coto Japanese Academy” in 2000—Coto has its roots in volunteer activities teaching Japanese to local residents in Tokyo.
